Story Notes

God chose Solomon, not David, to build a temple to replace the Tabernacle.

With God's help, David made detailed plans for the temple building.

Solomon used the best materials for the temple, including cedar from Lebanon.

The temple was beautiful. Much of it was covered in GOLD.

The temple took seven years to build.

The priests brought the Tabernacle items into the temple.

When the priests brought the ark, God filled the temple with a dark cloud.

Solomon said the heavens were not a large enough home for God.

Important Ideas

Because of JESUS, we no longer need a temple to meet with God.

If we believe the good news about Jesus, our BODIES are living temples of God.

Memory Verse

Know – tap your temple

God's – point up

Temple – form a roof over your head with your arms

Spirit – hold your hands out and wiggle your fingers

Dwells – thump your chest

You – point at another person
