David Plays Music for Saul - OT Lesson #56

This week, we read about how David's beautiful harp playing soothed the savage Saul!

Story Notes

  1. When David was anointed, God's Spirit lived with him and left Saul.
  2. Saul was terrified by an evil spirit.
  3. Saul's servants thought that music might make Saul feel better.
  4. David was chosen to play his harp for Saul.
  5. When David played his music, Saul would feel better.
  6. David wrote many Psalms, songs about God.
  7. As he died on the cross, Jesus shouted the words of one of David's songs.
  8. Psalm 22 was a song about Jesus the Messiah, written 1000 years before his birth.

 Important Ideas

  1. God is pleased when his people SING to him.
  2. The Holy Spirit helped David sing about Jesus 1000 years before he was born.

Memory Verse

Psalm 98:4, ESV - Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
