Story Notes
- The Ammonites threatened to poke out the eyes of the people of Jabesh-Gilead.
- God’s Spirit gave Saul power to rescue the people and defeat their enemies.
- Now an old man, Samuel reminded the people of the many times God rescued them.
- Samuel warned the people and their king not to disobey God’s laws
- Samuel prayed and God showed his power with a miraculous thunderstorm.
- Saul’s soldiers were scared of the huge Philistine army.
- When Samuel was late, Saul disobeyed God and offered a sacrifice.
- Because Saul disobeyed, Samuel said God had chosen another king to replace him.
Important Ideas
- God has saved his people over and over and over and over!
- Do what God says is right, not what seems right to you.
