Saul Disobeys God - OT Lesson #54

Story Notes

  1. The Ammonites threatened to poke out  the eyes of the people of Jabesh-Gilead.
  2.  God’s Spirit gave Saul power to rescue the people and defeat their enemies.
  3.  Now an old man, Samuel reminded the people of the many times God rescued them.
  4. Samuel warned the people and their king not to disobey God’s laws 
  5. Samuel prayed and God showed his power with a miraculous thunderstorm.
  6. Saul’s soldiers were scared of the huge Philistine army.
  7. When Samuel was late, Saul disobeyed God and offered a sacrifice.
  8. Because Saul disobeyed, Samuel said God had chosen another king to replace him.

 Important Ideas

  1. God has saved his people over and over and over and over!
  2. Do what God says is right, not what seems right to you.

Memory Verse

Proverbs 14:12, ESV - There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
