David is Anointed King - OT Lesson #55

Story Notes

1. Saul disobeyed God's command to destroy the Amalekites.
2. Saul told Samuel he planned to sacrifice the Amalekites'animals as a gift to God.
3.  Samuel told Saul that it's more important to obey God than to give him sacrifices.
4. Because Saul disobeyed, Samuel said God would tear the kingdom from Saul. 
5. God told sad Samuel to go to Jesse's to anoint one of his sons  to be king.
6. God told Samuel, “Don’t care about how they look because I look at the heart.”
7. Seven of Jesse's sons stood before Samuel, but God said he hadn't chosen them.
8. David, the youngest son, was out watching the sheep. God told Samuel to anoint him to be king.

 Important Ideas

1. Obeying God is more important than sacrifice.
2. God sees everything, even what we think and feel.

Memory Verse

1 Samuel 16:7b - For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart
