This week, we read about Solomon building the temple!

Story Notes

  1. God chose Solomon, not David, to build a temple to replace the Tabernacle.
  2. With God's help, David made detailed plans for the temple building.
  3. Solomon used the best materials for the temple, including cedar from Lebanon.
  4. The temple was beautiful. Much of it was covered in GOLD.
  5. The temple took seven years to build.
  6. The priests brought the Tabernacle items into the temple.
  7. When the priests brought the ark, God filled the temple with a dark cloud.
  8. Solomon said the heavens were not a large enough home for God.

 Important Ideas

  1. Because of JESUS, we no longer need a temple to meet with God.
  2.  If we believe the good news about Jesus, our BODIES are living temples of God.

Memory Verse

1 Corinthians 3:16, ESV - Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
  • Know – tap your temple
  • God's – point up
  • Temple – form a roof over your head with your arms
  • Spirit – hold your hands out and wiggle your fingers
  • Dwells – thump your chest
  • You – point at another person

  • Why don't we need a temple to meet with God now? // Jesus died to pay for our sins
  • What does it mean that we are God's temple? // God's Spirit lives inside us when we believe the good news

So I became hooked on your awesome lessons for kids! I am wanting to know if the one's in the older archives are able to be in the powerpoint form that the new ones are?
