God's Promise to David - OT Lesson #61

This week, we read about God promising David a forever kingdom!

Story Notes

1. In a battle with the Philistines, Saul and his three sons died.
2. After Saul and his sons died,David became king of all of Israel. 
3. David wanted to bring the ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.
4. When the Ark almost fell off the oxen's cart, Uzzah touched it and died.
5. Later, David and Israel celebrated as they carried the Ark to Jerusalem.
6. Because he lived in a palace, David wanted to build a HOUSE for the Ark.
7. God promised to give his people peace from their enemies.
8. God promised to build David a royal house: a kingdom that would last forever.

 Important Ideas

1. When we ignore God's commands, it brings disaster!
2.  Jesus will rule on the throne of David forever.

Memory Verse

Luke 1:32, ESV - He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David...

• Great – two thumbs up
• Called – hold your hand to your ear like you are talking on the phone
• Son – pretend to rock a baby
• Lord God – point up
• Throne – bend like you are sitting on a throne, pat your thighs
• David – pretend to twirl a shepherd's sling
