David and Bathsheba - OT Lesson #62

This week, we read about David's sin with Bathsheba and how God forgave him!

Story Notes

  1. King David committed adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba.
  2. Because Bathsheba was pregnant, her husband would know about David's sin.
  3. To hide his sin, David gave an order to have Uriah killed in battle.
  4. God saw David's secret sin and was not pleased.
  5. Nathan the prophet told David a story about a rich man stealing a lamb.
  6. Nathan's story was really about David and how he'd stolen Uriah's wife.
  7. David stopped hiding and confessed his sin to God.
  8. Nathan said God would take away David's sin, but his child would die.

 Important Ideas

  1. God sees everything we do, both the good and the bad.
  2. Because of Jesus, God forgives us when we confess our sins.

Memory Verse

Proverbs 15:3, ESV - The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

  • Eyes – pull both of your eyes open wide with your fingers
  • Lord – point up
  • Every place – point randomly in a bunch of different places
  • Keeping watch – pretend to look through binoculars
  • Evil – two thumbs up
  • Good – two thumbs up

  • How was Nathan's story about David? // David was a rich king who stole Uriah's beloved wife
  • After David confessed, what happy and sad news did Nathan give him? // God had taken away his sin, the child would die
