OT 36 The Tabernacle

Story Notes
- God told Moses to collect an OFFERING of precious materials from the people.
- God gave Moses instructions for a tabernacle, a special TENT where God would meet with them.
- For the tent, he told Moses to build the ARK of the covenant, a golden, angel-covered chest.
- He directed Moses to build the golden TABLE of Showbread to hold twelve loaves of bread.
- He commanded Moses to build a golden LAMPSTAND with seven lights.
- God told Moses to build a golden ALTAR to burn sweet-smelling incense every day.
- God chose Aaron and his sons to be PRIESTS: to wear special clothes and work in the Tabernacle.
- When the Tabernacle was set up and the items placed inside, God's glory FILLED the tent.
Important Idea
Because of JESUS, we don’t need a Tabernacle to meet with God.
Activities
Create the priest's ephod breastplate using colorful Skittles in place of the precious gems.
Light the seven candles of the golden lampstand.
Activities Not Pictured:
- Create all the Tabernacle items out of gold play dough.
- Burn sweet-smelling incense.
- Make piles of bread for the table of showbread using Wheat Thins.
Memory Verse
Hebrews 10:19b, ESV – ...we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus...
- We – point to yourself with both thumbs
- Confidence – stand boldly, with your fists on your hips
- Enter – march in place
- Most Holy Place – raise your hands up, then bow down low
- Blood – point to both of your wrists, where Jesus would have been pierced with nails
- Jesus – form a cross with your arms
